[Cursed Board Game] At A Racetrack?

This was it, last lap. Just a few more corners and I'd lock in a third place finish. Not too shabby for starting off at the back of the pack, if I do say so myself.

Just needed to keep my cool, hold off the competition and thread the little open wheel car through the tight section onto the back straight.

Hard onto the brakes, get her slowed down, turn in and then...

*Screeech! Bang!*

The next thing I knew, I was sitting sideways against the barrier, feeling my heart try and beat it's way out of my chest as I tried to figure out what just happened. Then I saw the black and green car that had been just behind me, his front wheel bent to hell and the nose of his car resting on top of the engine cover on mine. Right behind my head. Herman Ellis, that fucker!

I tore off my belt and jumped out of the car, ready to give him a piece of my mind. I got in one good shove as he stood up out of his car, then the a race marshal held me back, stopping me from going any further.

''You fucking divebombed me!'' I spat

He took his helmet off, tousling his dirty blonde hair and giving me a cocky smile. ''Hey, not my fault you don't know how to make space for other cars on the track''

That fucker was really going to pretend this was my fault. ''Bullshit! You know you were way behind me!'' I was struggling to break free from the marhsal's grip.

''Alright. Let's break this up, you two are both going to get checked out. If you two could do me the almighty favor of not killing each other, I've got a track to clean up here.''

*A/N: Unusual choice of backdrops for a story like this, I know. But, I felt like trying something a bit different.*

Also, a few more things:

I Need to pick a few random words that will be used as triggers in this story later on. So feel free to make suggestions. That's the main reason I am posting this initial chapter already.

I am aiming to complete this story before the end of the year, and already have enough of an outline to say with a decent amount of confidence it should be around 35 chapters-ish. Though I will hold off on posting any follow ups from here until it's finished. Or at least nearly finished.

Finally. I know I haven't published in what feels like ages. That said, I have still been writing. I have around 18 stories on CHYOA that I started between 2021 and 2023 and I've decided not to publish until they reach some sort of closure point. Having so many open projects unfinished was a killer to motivation. Call it a new years resolution, I guess. ''Stop leaving projects half finished''
